Martin Gamshack ("Gumshoe")

A human Private Detective, based in New York City. Almost always known as Gumshoe.

Originally, Gumshoe was an occasional colleague of Findo Gask; later, they form a partnership known as "Gumshoe and Gask" in the surface world and "Gask and Gumshoe" in the Lower Realms.

The series currently comprises nine books, all in various stages of completion:

Most of the characters in the novels are based on place names in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland, many of them close to the tiny village of Findo Gask.


St Martin's sign St. Martin's was a parish in Perthshire until 1975. It was sometimes known as St Martin's and Cambusmichael parish. The parish of Cambusmichael was annexed into St Martin's before 1693.

St Martin's sign St. Martin's was a medieval parish and a parish for civil and religious purposes from the sixteenth century until 1975.

The boundaries of the civil parish were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
