"You do realise I might have scared them off, whoever they are?" I suggested, "At least some of your people will have seen me here and guess why."

"Sure. But even if they stop now, they could start again tomorrow. Or next week. I can't take that risk," Broxden said with great determination.

"Are you still finding cameras?" I asked.

"Not today. Found a couple yesterday."

I frowned. This could be consistent with Drumfin having been the person setting the cameras; maybe not all of his placements had been discovered immediately. Or maybe there was somebody else involved.

"So they might still be at it," I said to Broxden reasonably, "So I need to interview some of your people. Not many, though. I've narrowed it down as far as I can. I don't want to get in the way of your day-to-day business."

Campsie and I had laboured long and hard to draw up a list of people to interview. It was an artful mixture of those who had a criminal background - at least, one which we knew about - and a few who almost certainly didn't. I intended to start with a few individuals with plausible jobs but not on the form list which Campsie had provided, just to allay suspicion.

"How long's this going to take?" Broxden asked, looking worried.

"Two days, tops," I suggested, "I might get them all done today, if everybody's in work. Otherwise I'll traipse around to their home addresses later on."

Broxden looked relieved.

"Okay, you better get started," he suggested, "What do you need?"

"Is there somebody who can help me with setting up the interviews?" I asked.

Broxden's administrative team was as efficient as I could have hoped. In ten minutes, I was set up in a room now reserved for my use. It was either a disused office or a small meeting room, judging from the shoebox-sized dimensions and the air of general negligence, not to mention yet more junk heaped in the corners. Still, it served its purpose well enough. I breezed through the first couple of interviews - a pair of innocuous stage hands with nothing reported on Campsie's form list and a long history of employment at the Saloon - before I got to the first of the guys I was really interested in.
