Ardoch Dunsinan

Ardoch Dunsinan is an ex-police detective who first met Findo Gask when they were both rookie cops in the police academy.

When Findo Gask meets him again, in the diner run by David, Dunsinan is described a a blocky Goblin now run to seed with the blotchy complexion of one who drinks too much, but is still able to afford a well-cut suit and an crisp shirt.

Most of the characters in the novels are based on place names in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland, many of them close to the tiny village of Findo Gask.


Ardoch is a civil parish in Perth and Kinross in Scotland. It has a population of 1,082.

Ardoch is the site of one of the Roman forts along the Gask ridge.


Dunsinane Hill (more correctly spelled Dunsinnan) is near the village of Collace in Perthshire, Scotland. It is mentioned in Shakespeare's play Macbeth.
