Doonira Quaig

Doctor Doonira Quaig is now an academic reasearcher in the Department of Preternatural Sciences at the long-established university once attended by Findo Gask.

Once, long ago, she and Findo Gask were lovers. When the relationship ended, Gask transferred to a police training course, while Doonira remained a student at the old university.

The series currently comprises nine books, all in various stages of completion:

Most of the characters in the novels are based on place names in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland, many of them close to the tiny village of Findo Gask.


Dunira is an estate of about 860 acres in Perthshire, Scotland, about three miles north-west of the town of Comrie. The estate is set against a backdrop of mountains, hills and rich lush lowland. Dunira was once the home of Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville.


Quoig is a settlement in Perthshire, Scotland.
