Owner of a diner where Findo Gask eats regularly. He is a short and exceptionally rotund Goblin in a spotless white apron, all bustling bonhomie and avuncular charm.

David often ministers to Findo Gask after the detective is knocked unconscious or otherwise abused, and frequently acts as his confident during intense investigations.

Most of the characters in the novels are based on place names in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland, many of them close to the tiny village of Findo Gask.

Founded by the late Lady Baird Preston of Fern Tower, St David's superseded a decayed old burgh of barony.
